Morgan Downey is the CEO of Money.Net. Morgan has an extensive business and product background. Morgan was born and educated in Ireland. His first job following graduation was at Citibank in New York as a derivatives trader and he later joined Bank of America. With these banks Morgan worked in New York, London, Singapore and Sydney, spending several years in each location rising from being a junior trader to become business head. During this time Morgan penned ‘Oil 101’, a bestselling book describing oil markets. Morgan then joined Bloomberg LP in New York where he ran the firm's commodity division globally which involved managing a technology team as well as budget responsibility for sales, data and news. While at Bloomberg Morgan saw a market opportunity develop. He began the build out of Money.Net in January 2014 alongside HL Van Arnem (COO) and Janet Christofano (CFO).
Morgan worked closely with two of Money.Net’s management team, Stefanos Daskalakis (CPO) and Norman Pearlstine (CIA), while at Bloomberg. Salil Pitkar (CTO) worked at Morgan Stanley’s derivatives division and knew Morgan from being a trading counterparty.
