1. How do I login to the Screamer and/or the other services?

  • Go to http://www.money.net and click on the "Member Login" button on the left navigation bar to access the Member Page where your product launch buttons are located. (Only for users that are signed up directly with Money.net - if you signed up through another site, please go to that particular site to login)


  • Once you are logged in, you can launch the Screamer or any other product by clicking the "Launch" button which appears on the right side of the page.


2. How do I enter or delete ticker symbols?

  • Ticker symbols are entered using the symbol input box located in the upper left-hand portion of the window. After each symbol is entered into the input box, click the "Add Symbol" button to proceed. To enter multiple symbols, put a comma between the symbols, ie: aol,msft,csco,ibm & click the "Add Symbol" button to proceed . Each list will allow up to 50 unique symbols. A total of 500 symbols can be entered into your portfolio. You can also retrieve a snapshot of a security by adding the symbol in the input box and clicking on "Snap Quote."


  • Ticker symbols are deleted by moving your cursor to the specific symbol & right-clicking on the mouse which will show a drop-down menu, by clicking on "Delete."

3. How do I enter exchange or index symbols (also advancers, decliners, volumes symbols, exchange codes & more)?

  • Exchange or Index quotes can be added to the Screamer display by using the following symbols. After each symbol is entered into the input box click the 'Add Symbol' button to add the symbol to your Screamer list.


  • Some symbols will require dots in front of the index symbol, however not all. IE: To get the Nasdaq Composite, please type: .COMP (a dot in front of the index symbol.) To get the S&P 100 , please type: OEX (no dot in front of it.)

4. What is an "option chain"?

An "Option Chain" lists option quotes in order of strike price for present and future months for a given symbol. This feature makes it easier to find the option quotes you are looking for. To view option quotes, type in any symbol (ie: dell), and click on the "Option Chain" button located on the top. You can also add the option quote of your choice to your portfolio list by right-clicking your mouse.

5. How do I enter an option quote?

To enter an options quote, you need three pieces of information:
  1. The Option Root symbol


  2. The code for the month


  3. The code for the strike price
To find an option quote, please enter a space between the option root symbol & the last 2 letters (month and strike codes). Example: Reuters option, strike of 100, January CALL. The option root is RTQ, a January call is A, a strike of 100 is T. Assemble it all and you get "RTQ AT".

For example try the following individual exchange option quote entries:

  • The process of entering a Preferred Class shares stock is to use the forward slash sign between the symbol & the root. An example would be: TAP/A

9. How do I enter a "cash" basis in the portfolio?

  • To enter a "Cash" Basis in your portfolio, simply add the symbol "$cash" then once added to the column, click on the "$cash" and then select "Edit" to enter amount.

10. How do I view through portfolio lists? (there are two ways)

  • Click on the drop-down arrow feature (located between "edit portfolios" & "charts" buttons) & choose the portfolio you wish


  • Highlight the name or number of the portfolio on the drop-down arrow feature then click on the up or down arrows on your keyboard & you can scroll thru the portfolio lists

11. What are real-time snap quotes?

  • In addition to the Real-Time Screamer lists, unlimited Real-Time 'Snap' quotes can be retrieved. To retrieve a snap quote, enter the security symbol in the input box and click the ‘Snap Quote' button. This will initiate a smaller quote window to display the full quote on your requested security.

12.What is the stock lookup?

  • To locate a trading symbol or 'ticker' you are not familiar with, use the Symbol Lookup feature. Enter a minimum of four letters of the name of the company and then click the 'Lookup' button to begin. A separate browser window will then appear containing choices similar to the data you provided. Scroll through the listings by using the scrollbar on the right side of the window.


  • Once you have located the symbol you desire, highlight your selection to easily add it to your list by clicking the 'Add to the List' button. A snap quote can also be retrieved by clicking the 'Get a Single Quote' button.

13. Screamer viewing preferences and alerts.

  • Use the 'Preferences' button to customize the colors or data that make up your quote lists. Choose between two preset color schemes by clicking on ‘Dark Color Scheme' or ‘Light Color Scheme'. You can also customize with your own colors by clicking ‘Customize Color Scheme'.


  • You can set Alert Preferences here as well. Alerts are set up by clicking on the symbol and choosing Edit from the popup. At Alert Preferences you can set sounds, column highlights, or popup to alert you when a stock has hit your preset amount.
  • You can customize the Columns within Screamer by placing the Available columns into the Viewable box using the ‘+' and ‘–‘ buttons.


  • You can choose to view your symbol's information either in decimal format or fraction format by clicking the appropriate button.


  • Click OK to close box and click ‘Save Settings' to save changes here.

14. What is edit portfolios?

  • By clicking on this button, you can view your current portfolios as well as make any changes necessary. Here you can Add, Rename or Delete any existing portfolios.

15. What are the type of charts?

  • The % Gain Chart displays the gain/losses for the day of the symbols appearing in your current portfolio.


  • The Portfolio Distribution Chart displays symbols appearing in your portfolio for which you have number of shares entered and their relative distribution to each other.

16. What is the Snapshot?

  • You can choose to view both Market Snapshot as well as Portfolio Snapshot.


  • Market Snapshot is a display of all of the current exchange quotes.


  • Portfolio Snapshot shows you your current portfolio at a glance.

17. Additional research links and alerts.

  • Click on a stock symbol and a sub-menu of research choices will appear. Selecting any one of these items will initiate an additional browser window to display the selected information.


  • Choose from Edit, Live Chart, Trade or Delete.

18. What is edit holdings/alerts?

  • Here, stock Alerts can be set based upon price highs or lows, maximum gain or loss, maximum percent gain or loss, or max volume of trading of the stock. You may also enter the base price, which is the price you paid for the stock, the number of shares you are holding, the commission paid for the purchase, purchase date, and any splits if there are. Then you click Apply  to set the Alerts & the rest.

19. What is the live chart?

  • This function will let you view an up-to-the-second chart for a specified security.


    • White solid lines are the bid/ask price


    • Red dotted line and solid line is the current price of the security


    • Green dotted line is the day's high/low price


    • Yellow dotted line is the day's opening price

20. Data field explanations.

  1. Symbol - The ticker symbol for the security. See [How to enter ticker symbols.
  2. Last - The last trade price for the security.
  3. Change - Daily change in price on the security from the prior day's closing price.
  4. Bid - The highest price which another person or a market maker is willing to pay to acquire a security. This is the best price indication for someone wishing to sell the security.
  5. Ask - The lowest price at which shares of a security are offered for sale. This is the best price indication for someone wishing to purchase the security.
  6. Bid Size - Number of shares currently available at the bid price.
  7. Ask Size - Number of shares currently available at the ask price.
  8. High - Highest price the security has traded within the current day.
  9. Low - Lowest price the security has traded within the current day.
  10. Volume - Total volume of shares traded within the current day.
  11. Shares - Number of shares you are currently holding or wish to track using the Portfolio Tracker feature.
  12. Base - Purchase price or cost basis per share or contract of each security being tracked.
  13. Gain/Loss - Difference between the total cost basis for the security (number of shares x cost basis per share) and the current price of the security (number of shares x last trade of the security).
  14. Total - Indicates the current value of your holdings that you have entered into the "Edit Holdings" section, I.E. current price * number of shares. This Data Field is also used to calculate the value of the portfolio (shown at the bottom of the Streaming Real-Time Quote System.)
  15. % Change - Calculated percentage change loss for each security with a base price entered.
  16. G/L (share) - Actual gain or loss per share or contract for each security where a base price has been entered. Note: this number is limited to two decimal places.
  17. G/L % - Calculated percentage gain or loss for each security with a base price entered. This is calculated using the purchase price entered and the last trade of the security.
  18. G/L (today) - Indicates your security's gain or loss of the present day.
  19. EPS - The earnings of a corporation for the last four quarters, divided by the average number of outstanding shares for that same period.
  20. PE - Price to earnings ratio, or the current stock price divided by the total of the last four quarters' earnings.
  21. Dividends - Total annual amount of dividends paid by the company.
  22. 52 High - The highest price the security has reached within the last 52 weeks.
  23. 52 Low - The lowest price the security has reached within the last 52 weeks.
  24. Exchange - Denotes the exchange which the security trades on.

  25. Time - The time of the last trade on the security.
  26. Open - Open is the price at which the security began trading in the current day.
  27. Alerts - When you want to be alerted at the time a certain stock reaches your price
  28. Trend - Indicates which way the stock has gone the last 10 trades (green=up, red=down & white=no change)
  29. Description - this field contains the name of the company of the symbol you entered.
  30. Pre/Post Market - this field contains the last price for all trades that occur outside of market hours.
  31. Strike Price - this field contains the strike price of any options you have listed in your portfolio.
  32. Last Vol - contains the last amount of shares traded.
  33. Last Exchange - the last exchange the stock was traded on.
  34. Exp Date - the expiration date of the option contract.
  35. Open Int - how many contracts were at the opening.
  36. Beta - A measure of price volatility that relates the stock to the market as a whole. A stock with a beta higher than 1 is expected to move up or down more than the market. A beta below 1 indicates a stock that usually jumps up and down less than the market.
  37. Market Cap - Denotes the market capitalization of the particular security.
  38. Avg Vol - Indicates the Average Volume of the particular security.
  39. Prev Close - Previous Close is the last price at which the security traded on the previous day.
  40. Spread - Indicates the difference between the bid & ask price.
  41. Alerts Columns - Shows which alerts are set (Negative change color), and which alerts have activated (positive change column).
  42. Total Cost Column - Show the total cost of the current row: (base * num of shares) + comm

21. What is the Level II Viewer?

  • Features:

    • Price Distribution Bar: The Price Distribution Bar graphically displays the relative number of Market Makers in each price tier compared to all of the outstanding bids or offers ("Insiders"). It will help give you an idea of what price dominates the market at the moment and is located just under the Level I price information (1st set of vertical color bars).


    • Volume Distribution Bar: The Volume Distribution Bar graphically displays the relative number of shares in each price tier compared to all the total volume of all outstanding bids or offers ("Size"). It will help give you an idea which price tier has the greatest volume and is located at the bottom of the screen (2nd set of vertical color bars).


    • Price Tier: A price tier is a group of bids or asks that are at the same price. The top 5 price tiers are color coded to group them together.


  • Field Definitions:

    • PMM: Primary Market Maker indication for NASDAQ Level 2.


    • UPC: NASDAQ UPC Indicator . "UPC" displayed indicates members may be required to close out short sales.


    • MMID: ID of Market Maker.


    • Insiders: will show a number of how many quotes are yellow or how many inside quotes there are.


    • Colors Changing: Yellow indicates a price closest to the Nasdaq market. Same prices have same colors. White indicates if the price is 6th closest or more from the Nasdaq Market.


    • Quote: shows an "R" which = an inside open.

If you find the news distracting, there is now a button next to the news, a new button has been added which allows you to stop the scrolling news on bottom of the Streaming Real-Time Quote System. You can hide or show the scrolling news.
